Stalag 13

Stalag 13 are a hardcore punk band from the United States and are associated with the early 1980s Nardcore scene in California. They stand out within that scene because they do not record for Doug Moody’s Mystic Records, instead releasing material through George Newbury’s label. Their sound is heavily influenced by Minor Threat and the Washington, D.C. straight edge movement, although they do not follow the straight edge lifestyle itself.

Recordings and releases

The band’s second album is issued under the shortened name Stalag and is recorded on Edge Records, a label that no longer exists. In Control later receives a special vinyl reissue from Dr. Strange Records 20 years after the original release.

Line-up and connections

Original singer Ron Baird also spends time in Dr. Know and later lives in Australia. Guitarist Dave Cassillas also plays in Dr. Know, NOFX and other bands. Guitarist Blake Cruz is the younger brother of Brandon Cruz, the singer of Dr. Know. Drummer Larry White plays in many Nardcore bands at different times. The group’s line-up also includes Tony Black.
