Stahlsarg
Stahlsarg is a UK blackened death metal group formed in 2013. The band bases its lyrics on the world wars and military history, presenting those subjects in a theatrical style that the text describes as non-political. Its sound sits within black metal and death metal.
Activity and live work
From its early period, Stahlsarg tours in the UK and Europe. The group appears on radio including Bloodstock Radio, Total Rock Radio, ICR, BRFM and Top Rock Radio, and it features in UK and European music magazines. In 2014 it supports Mayhem on the Norwegian band’s only UK date in London, plays shows with Handful of Hate in Belgium and Excruciate 666 in France, and performs on the Sophie Lancaster stage at Bloodstock, opening for Satan.
The band also plays festival dates including Beermageddon in Birmingham and Belgium’s No Compromise Metal Festival alongside Crystal Viper. It later performs at Wonnemond Festival in Germany with Endstille, and undertakes a short UK tour supporting Endstille around the release of its debut album.
Releases and recording
Stahlsarg’s debut album is Comrades In Death, released internationally through the Danish label Mighty Music. It is recorded with Danny B. Takoma of Criminal and Lockup at HVR Studios, and Powerplay Magazine describes it as a multi-dimensional piece of work.
Other work and associations
In early 2015, Stahlsarg creates Stahlsarg Beer in association with The Dove Brewery in Ipswich. The band also attracts the attention of Randall amplification and joins its artist roster.
