Spor

Spor is the drum and bass project of Jonathan Gooch, a producer and DJ born in Hertfordshire, United Kingdom, in 1984. He also works under the alias Feed Me, which he uses mainly for house and dubstep.

Background and name

Gooch begins making music after a school friend introduces him to drum and bass. He starts experimenting with music software and develops his own productions. The name Spor comes from a mix of an early sample folder title, “Spore Tactics”, and an artwork title by a friend; he later drops the “e” from “spore” to create a more balanced visual form.

Career

After attracting attention, Spor signs an exclusive deal with Renegade Hardware and also releases music on Barcode. These releases lead to more DJ work, including his first club set in London, after which he continues to tour internationally as a performer.

He co-runs the label Lifted Music with Chris Renegade, Ewun, Evol Intent and Apex, and continues to release drum and bass through that label and others. His output is described as dark and solid, and his listed styles include drum and bass, dubstep, electro house, electronic and neurofunk.

Aliases and related work

Under the Feed Me name, Gooch focuses mainly on house and dubstep. Spor is the drum & bass producer in this entry; another act with the same name is a French fusion/grunge band that forms from former No One Is Innocent members and releases Is Today Tomorrow ? in 2001 before disbanding.
