Spinline is a Hungarian drum and bass group made up of Gamma, Norbert Sáfár and Andras Tallai. The act forms in 2003 and builds its sound around drum and bass and broader electronic music, with a focus on deep, rolling production and a mix of funk-led and forward-thinking ideas.
Career
Spinline begins releasing music about two years after forming, with early material picked up by L Plates and Mathematics. Their catalogue includes releases on Ram, Shogun and Dispatch, among other labels. The group gains attention through tracks such as “Radioactive”, released on Shogun’s SGN:LTD imprint, and “Run”, which appears on Ram Records and features on the Nightlife mix series.
Collaborations and influences
The group works with artists including Naibu and Hydro in the studio, and also receives support and advice from Chris SU, SKC, Mindscape and the Tactile collective. Their influences extend beyond drum and bass and include Mos Def, Daft Punk, Carl Craig, Jonny L, Marcus Intalex and Calibre. They also collaborate with Hydro, Icicle, Data, Keza, Octane, DLR and Kasra.
Style and performances
Spinline do not define their sound narrowly, but their productions draw on a wide range of electronic music. Alongside releases, their DJ performances attract attention and take them to the UK, Europe and other territories. The group also plans to start its own record label.
