Spilt Milk
Spilt Milk is an Australian punk band. The name is also used by an Amsterdam-based indie quintet that is fronted by Marc van der Holst and includes Brenda Bosma on vocals, glockenspiel, harmonica and percussion, Marcel Duin on drums, Daan Overgoor on electric guitar, piano and vocals, and Jan-Pieter van Weel on bass guitar and vocals. This group forms in Amsterdam, the Netherlands, and records material that draws on poetry and related themes.
Releases
The Amsterdam group releases two EPs based on poetry. Carnet De Voyage brings together eight musical settings of poems by the American Modernist Wallace Stevens. Funeral Blues takes a more folk-leaning, jangly approach and contains ten songs loosely connected by the theme of death. A third release, Moments, is a collection of demos recorded around 2010 and issued later on cassette and digitally.
Later activity
After the first two releases, Marc van der Holst moves on to record under the name The Avonden, while Spilt Milk continues to appear through the later release of Moments.
