Spectrum City

Spectrum City is a Long Island, United States hip hop group active from 1975 to 1984. The group includes Aaron Allen, Keith Boxley, Chuck D and Hank Shocklee, and is known as an early incarnation of Public Enemy.

Career

The group releases one single on Vanguard Records in 1984. It also gains attention through its radio work on WBAU, where the members present various shows.

After this period, the group is persuaded by Rick Rubin to regroup and later signs to Def Jam Records as Public Enemy for its 1987 debut under that name.
