Spectrasoul
Spectrasoul are a drum and bass duo from the United Kingdom made up of David Kennett and Jack Stevens. They emerge in 2006 and build a reputation for productions that combine deep, groove-led arrangements with a powerful club focus. Their music sits within drum and bass and electronic music more broadly, and their sound is marked by a recognisable approach that moves across different tempos and moods while still staying rooted in the genre.
Releases and label work
In 2016, the duo launch their own label, Ish Chat Music. They release three EPs over twelve months on the imprint, moving between experimental tracks and direct club-oriented material. The releases numbered 001 to 003 gain support from BBC Radio 1, Beats 1, and outlets including DJ Mag, Mixmag and Resident Advisor. Their third studio album, How We Live, follows as the fourth release on the label and focuses on underground sounds and the core ideas of drum and bass: energy, experimentation and dancefloor use.
Split and later activity
Spectrasoul end the project in 2020, after which both members turn to solo work and other musical projects.
