Spear

Spear is a Polish industrial and trip-hop project from Łódź, formed in 1992 by Maciej Ożóg. Ożóg is born in 1971 and also performs in the Ben Zeen duo. The project is described as specialising in anthem-like songs built on trip-hop beats, with an approach that uses alchemical methods of sound preparation and industrial experimentation.

Spear’s releases include In Search Of Sparks, which appears in 1997, followed by Dark Waters Of Light in 1998, Of Silence in 1999 and Saphire Flower in 2001. The music is associated with dark ambient, ambient, trip-hop, hardcore and sound sculpture, and is characterised by abstract, hypnotic and atmospheric qualities.

The project is also described as exploring esoteric trip-hop with a sense of mystery and nostalgia, combining an experimental basis with complex pop structures.
