Sparrow and the Workshop
Sparrow and the Workshop are a Glasgow-based trio formed in 2008. The group consists of Jill O’Sullivan on vocals and acoustic guitar, Nick Packer on guitar, bass and “basstard”, and Gregor Donaldson on drums and vocals. O’Sullivan is Belfast-born and Chicago-raised, Packer is Welsh, and Donaldson is Scottish.
Releases
The band releases a single and EP on Distiller in 2009, then issues its debut album, Crystals Fall, in 2010. A second album, Spitting Daggers, follows in 2011. The group later prepares a third album for Song, by Toad Records, with Shock Shock as the first single from that record.
Style and live activity
Their sound features harmonies and unusual instrument and effects-pedal treatments. Sparrow and the Workshop tour with acts including the Brian Jonestown Massacre, the Pogues, Idlewild and British Sea Power, and they appear at festivals such as Glastonbury, Green Man, Hop Farm, Bestival and End of the Road.
