Sound Storm

Sound Storm is a metal group from Torino, Italy, formed in 2002. The band develops a sound that combines heavy metal with theatrical drama, symphonic elements, gothic atmosphere and baroque melody. It is associated with power metal, symphonic power metal, symphonic metal and epic metal.

Career

Sound Storm begins writing original material soon after forming, with three or four songs completed by the end of 2003. In October 2005 the group records six original tracks in its own studio, leading to the demo The Storm Is Coming. The following year it returns to the studio to record the EP Northern Wilderness, which is self-produced and released in early 2007.

During 2008 the band spends time composing, arranging and rehearsing its first full-length album, Twilight Opera. The record features a strings section and a nine-piece choir, is mastered at Finnvox Studios by Mika Jussila, and is released by Rising Records. The band marks the album’s release with a live show at the Ilha Do Ermal festival in Portugal, alongside acts including Blind Guardian, Angra, Sepultura, Korpiklaani and Firewind.

In summer 2010 Sound Storm tours Mexico for the first time, playing 11 concerts across the country. In 2012 it signs a worldwide deal with Scarlet Records for the release of Immortalia, a concept album centred on the search for eternal life and the immortality of the soul. The album is recorded, mixed and mastered at Metal House Studio by Ettore Rigotti, with artwork by Felipe Machado Franco. The band also supports Tristania on European dates following the album’s release.
