Soul Rebels Brass Band

Soul Rebels Brass Band is a New Orleans group active since 1991. It performs jazz and is described as combining New Orleans traditional jazz with urban influences, including baile funk, ska and hip-hop, alongside jazz-funk and brass-band elements.

The group’s line-up includes Marcus Hubbard, Erion Williams, Paul Robertson, Corey Glover, Julian Gosin, Lumar LeBlanc, Edward Lee Jr., Derrick Moss, Manuel Perkins Jr., Corey Peyton, Winston Turner and Tannon “Fish” Williams.

Instrumentation and style

Individual roles associated with the band include Lumar LeBlanc on snare drum, Derrick “Oops” Moss on bass drum and percussion, Edward Lee on tuba, Tannon “Fish” Williams on trumpet, Marcus “Red” Hubbard on trumpet, Paul Robertson on trombone and Erion Williams on tenor saxophone. The group is characterised by horn-led arrangements and dance-oriented rhythms.
