Sorrel Nation
Sorrel Nation is a folk and indie singer-songwriter with a female vocal style. She grows up in a household shaped by eclectic musical influences and begins performing on stage at the age of 10 with a Beatles tribute band in France. By 13, she is the lead singer in a folk-rock band.
Early performances and live work
Nation builds her early career through live performance and later opens for a range of established artists, including Martin Simpson, Martin Carthy, Dave Swarbrick, John Otway, Madison Violet, 3 Daft Monkeys and Jackie Leven. She also plays at venues such as The Bedford Arms and the Troubadour Club in London, and appears at Create Festival, Local & Live, and Wired – Live & Unsigned.
Debut release
Her debut EP, First Sight, is launched to a packed audience at The Grey Lady. The recording is produced by Nigel Lowis, whose credits include work with Dina Carroll and Eternal, as well as collaborations with Carole King and Burt Bacharach. The release presents her songwriting and highlights her versatile voice.
Musical style and influences
Nation writes songs about contemporary life and is associated with influences including Stevie Nicks, Laura Marling, The Civil Wars, Shelby Lynne and Dusty Springfield.
