Sophie Scott

Sophie Scott is a singer-songwriter from Shrewsbury, Shropshire. She writes and performs acoustic pop with a focus on acoustic mash-ups that combine current songs with her own material, and she shares this work on YouTube. She writes her own songs, having written her first at the age of 13.

Early development

Scott develops her guitar playing and singing from a young age. After beginning to write songs, she spends 10 weeks at school in Australia, where she improves her guitar technique. She also develops her voice through practice at home and by singing with other girls at school.

Performing and recordings

By the age of 15, Scott begins busking, later choosing to move into solo performances at local open mic nights. She builds a profile in Shropshire through regular gigging and through her single “Say Something”, which is named BBC Radio Shropshire’s song of the month. The track is also played on BBC Radio 1 after being selected as a BBC Introducing track of the week by Huw Stephens, and it appears on a worldwide podcast and the BBC Introducing blog. Her other singles include “Fade Away” and “Get Out My Head”.

Collaborations and work in progress

Scott works with producers in London and Leeds. In Leeds, she works with Ollie Green on upbeat acoustic pop, while in London she co-writes and begins work on an EP with a producer known as Stomp Beats. “Get Out My Head” is produced by Ollie Green.
