Sons Of The Delta

Sons Of The Delta are a UK blues rock and blues band formed in 2002 by Mark Cole and Richard Edwards. The group begins as a duo with Cole on vocals, harmonica, guitar, mandolin and stomp box, and Edwards on guitar and vocals.

Releases

The band releases its debut album, One For The Road, on the Blues Matters label in 2004. Two years later it releases Made in Mississippi on Rawtone Records. That second album is recorded in Clarksdale, Mississippi, and includes guest appearances by Pinetop Perkins and Sam Carr.

Line-up

In 2006, Adrian Deane joins on bass and Martin Fitzgibbon on drums, giving the band a four-piece line-up when needed.

Performances and Mississippi connection

Sons Of The Delta play a series of blues festivals in the UK, including the Gloucester Blues and Heritage Festival, the Upton Blues Festival, the Banbury Blues Festival, the Gloucester International Blues Festival, the Maryport Blues Festival, the Great British R&B Festival in Colne, the Burnley Blues Festival, and Blues at the Abbey at Titchfield Abbey. They also perform at Butlins Rock & Blues Weekend. The band visits Mississippi in 2004 to tour and record, returning there again in 2005 and 2006. During those visits, Mark Cole performs in Clarksdale at Ground Zero, Big T's Spot, Cat Head, the Clarksdale Juke Joint Festival and the Cat Head Minifest, and the band also plays the Arkansas Blues and Heritage Festival in Helena, Arkansas.
