SonDura
SonDura are a London-based British rock and metal group formed by Tom and his younger brother, guitarist Jack. The line-up also includes bassist Steve Dillon and drummer Fred Green. The group name is said to mean hard sound.
Sound and style
The band plays melodic metal and hard rock with a focus on strong hooks and memorable songs. Their music is described as combining the heavy, crushing side of Black Album-era Metallica with the more radio-friendly approach associated with Nickelback, alongside the sharper edge of Hundred Reasons. The result is a sound that aims to be both powerful and accessible.
Early release
SonDura introduce this approach on a debut three-track EP. Its songs are listed as Lights Out, Antics and Fake. Lights Out is the opening track and is described as fast and direct, Antics as darker and more fluid, and Fake as a heavy, emotive ballad.
Songwriting approach
The group places clear emphasis on songwriting rather than image or scene status. Jack describes the band as a melodic metal act with catchy hooks, while stressing that the hooks are there for a purpose: the songs are meant to stay in the listener's head after a gig.
