Solid Snake

Solid Snake is a Swedish progressive trance and psytrance project led by Omar Chelly, who is also one half of the Swedish act Tegma. The project takes its name from a new direction in Chelly’s work, building on his background in the Scandinavian progressive trance scene.

Background

Chelly comes from Malmö and has spent more than a decade touring internationally with recordings spread across full-length albums, compilations and singles. His earlier work with Tegma places him among the established names in Scandinavian progressive trance. Solid Snake develops an older progressive psytrance approach while adding newer ideas.

Recordings and style

The project’s release Unleashed features a range of sounds, including dub-influenced material and heavier tribal tracks. The music is rooted in progressive psytrance and related psychedelic trance styles, with an emphasis on the Scandinavian “Scando” sound.

Collaborators

While working on the project, Chelly reconnects with Anders Rosengren, who joins as a co-pilot on Solid Snake.
