Soldier is a Christian metal group from the United States.

Overview

The name has been used by more than one heavy music act. One version is a traditional metal band from San Francisco that forms in 1985, releases the full-length album Babylon in 1986, and later puts out a demo called Louder Than Hell before splitting up. Another is a Birmingham-based band active in the UK scene from 2009, with songs described as drawing on a range of metal and hard rock influences.

Releases and activity

The 2009-era band’s first release, Lifeline, gains critical attention and radio play. The same group supports Viva Brother in February 2011 and also appears with Mona, Athlete and The Datsuns. It is included among the top 10 Birmingham bands for 2011 and is confirmed for Artsfest 2011 on the main stage at Centenary Square alongside The Guillemots.

Style and scene

Soldier is associated with NWOBHM, heavy metal, thrash metal and hardcore, and is described as delivering melodic songs with a strong live presence.
