Solar Bears

Solar Bears are an electronic group from Ireland, made up of John Kowalski and Rian Trench. They form in early 2009, after the two meet at sound engineering college. Their music draws on a wide range of influences, including electronica and film composers such as Ennio Morricone and George Delerue.

Sound and approach

The duo work with programming, acoustic instruments, synthesizers and vintage tape machines. Their writing and recording style is freeform, and their tracks often vary in tone and texture from one another. The result is a sound built from contrasting source materials rather than a single fixed style.
