SOHN
SOHN is the recording name of Christopher Taylor, a London-born, Vienna-based musician, songwriter and producer. He comes from South London and learns guitar and piano before moving into electronic and indie pop-based solo work. His music is associated with electronic, ambient, electropop and indie pop, alongside singer-songwriter material.
Career
Before using the SOHN name, Taylor performs in a previous project called Trouble Over Tokyo, which he dissolves in 2012. He then begins releasing new music under the SOHN pseudonym through SoundCloud, including the tracks Oscillate and Warnings. He attracts attention with songs such as The Wheel and Red Lines, which receive praise for their vocal melodies and precise production. The Wheel EP appears in November 2012 and reaches number 18 on the Amazing Radio Top 40.
In 2013, Taylor signs to 4AD. His first release for the label, Bloodflows, reaches number 1 on the Amazing Radio chart. The following track Lessons is issued with a music video directed by Olivier Groulx and premieres via Dazed & Confused. In 2014, he releases his debut album, Tremors, with lead single Artifice. The album charts in several European countries and receives favourable reviews.
After spending time in Northern California, Taylor writes and records the ten tracks on his second album, Rennen, alone. The album is preceded by Signal and Conrad.
Collaborations and production work
Alongside his solo releases, Taylor writes and produces Alibi and Waiting Game for Banks. He also remixes Lana Del Rey’s Ride and produces songs on Rita Ora’s album.
