S.O.A.P.

S.O.A.P. is a Danish pop duo made up of sisters Heidi and Line Sørensen, known in the group as Saseline and Suriya. The act is active from 1998 to 2002 and becomes one of Denmark’s better-known late-1990s pop exports.

Career

The sisters are born in Malaysia in 1979 and 1982, respectively, and grow up between Malaysia and Denmark. They begin singing and performing at an early age, with encouragement from their parents. In 1995, after meeting Danish songwriter and producer Remee, they sign to Sony Music under the name S.O.A.P., pronounced “soap”.

Their debut album, Not Like Other Girls, is released in spring 1998 alongside the single “This Is How We Party”. The song becomes their biggest hit and charts internationally, including on the Billboard Hot 100 in the United States. The group also reaches audiences in Europe, Japan and Australia, and tours with the Backstreet Boys. Their first album wins two Danish Grammy awards.

In 2000, S.O.A.P. releases its second album, Miracle, led by the single “S.O.A.P. Is In The Air”. The duo sells around two million records in total. While preparing a third album, the group disbands in order to pursue other projects.

After S.O.A.P.

In 2010, Line Sørensen releases her first solo album under the name Saseline.
