Snowboy

Snowboy, also known as Mark Cotgrove, is a UK-based Afro-Cuban percussionist, bandleader, DJ, music critic, journalist and music promoter. Born in 1961 and originating from the United Kingdom, he works in acid jazz and Latin jazz and is known for his long-running focus on Latin American and Afro-Cuban styles.

The Latin Section

He performs with Snowboy & The Latin Section, a group made up of leading UK Latin jazz musicians. Together they develop a Latin jazz and Latin dance sound built around percussion-led arrangements, strong swing and energetic original compositions. The group is noted for combining influences from classic players in the genre with an identifiable style of its own.

Recording career and wider work

Snowboy has released 11 albums and 17 singles across a career that spans more than 15 years. His work takes an authentic Afro-Cuban sound to concert stages internationally. He is also included in the Who's Who of Latin American Music. Outside his Latin jazz work, he is known as a soul fan and for presenting a Saturday afternoon soul show on Weekender FM at the Southport soul weekender events in the early 1990s.
