Snowboy & The Latin Section

Snowboy & The Latin Section is a London-based group led by Snowboy, the performing name of Mark Cotgrove. Snowboy is an Afro-Cuban percussionist, bandleader, DJ, music critic, journalist and music promoter, and the project is associated with world music and Latin jazz.

The Latin Section is described as a group of leading UK Latin jazz musicians, with Mark Cotgrove and Neil Angilley named among its members. The act develops an identifiable sound in Latin dance music, drawing on the traditions of the genre while aiming for strong swing and rhythmic drive.

Snowboy has a long recording career, with 11 albums and 17 singles, and has been featured in the Who’s Who of Latin American Music. The project presents original, percussion-led compositions and also reflects Snowboy’s wider involvement in music, including his work as a soul DJ and his Saturday afternoon soul show on weekender FM at Southport soul weekender events in the early 1990s.
