S*M*A*S*H

S*M*A*S*H are a UK punk rock group associated with the mid-1990s New Wave of New Wave scene in the British music press. They come from Welwyn Garden City in Hertfordshire and gain national attention at the same time as acts such as These Animal Men, Compulsion and 60ft Dolls attract support among post-grunge listeners.

The group occasionally plays secret shows in smaller venues under pseudonyms. One clue to their identity is the use of asterisks in the name, with S*H*I*T*E given as one example of an alternate form.

The group’s members are Salvador Alessi and Ed Borrie.
