SLP

SLP is a Russian electronic music project associated with Ralf Wehowsky (p16.d4) and S.B.O.T.H.I. The project develops from side four of the double LP Nichts Niemand Nirgends Nie, which emerges from a series of exchanges and transformations between the two artists’ work.

Source material and construction

The original LP is organised as a process-based collaboration. Side one is recorded by p16.d4, side two by S.B.O.T.H.I. (Achim Wollscheid), and each artist uses the other’s material, intermediate material and finished pieces in their own work. Side three contains musique concrète improvisée by both partners, while side four consists of three tracks that feed directly into the SLP project.

For SLP, four turntablists use this LP side as source material, and the mixing is handled by a computer program written specially for the project by Joachim Pense.
