Slowly Rolling Camera

Slowly Rolling Camera is a Cardiff-based group active since 2013. It brings together pianist-composer Dave Stapleton, producer Deri Roberts, vocalist-lyricist Dionne Bennett and drummer Elliot Bennett.

Style and influences

The group works across electronica, jazz, nu jazz and soul, with music that also draws on trip-hop, downtempo, chillout and drum and bass. Their sound is described through references to UK acts such as Cinematic Orchestra and Portishead, alongside James Blake and Bonobo. The music combines layered harmonies, rhythm-led arrangements and ambient textures.

Releases and live work

The project launches its debut album in performance. Its early work establishes a free-flowing approach to arrangement, with emphasis on atmosphere, emotion and texture.
