Slainte

Slainte is a Celtic folk group from Tacoma, Washington, in the United States. It is active from 1995 to the present and plays Celtic and folk music, including reels, jigs, hornpipes, slip jigs and polkas, alongside traditional Irish songs.

Music and repertoire

The group focuses on a traditional Celtic sound and includes both instrumental and vocal material. Its repertoire covers dance forms such as reels, jigs, hornpipes, slip jigs and polkas, and it also performs traditional Irish songs.

Recordings and online popularity

Slainte releases at least two albums, Slainte and Cup of Tea, both available for free download on archive.org. The band also makes several songs available through MP3.com, where it becomes one of the site’s most downloaded free-music acts, with more than 1,000 downloads a day over a nine-month period. The song “Star of the County Down” reaches the top downloaded position several times.
