Skrapz

Skrapz is an underground rapper from Detroit, Michigan, born in 1978. He begins his career in the early horrorcore scene and later works in what he describes as “purified hip-hop”.

Early groups and collaborations

He starts out in 2 Krazy Devils under the name Krazy, rapping alongside Blaze Ya Dead Homie, who performs as Psycho C at the time. The group does not last long, and the two later go their separate ways.

Skrapz then changes his name and teams up with The R.O.C. in House of Krazees. Together they record The Night They Kame Home in 1998.

HaLFBrEEd and Level Jumpers

After House of Krazees, Skrapz and The R.O.C. continue as HaLFBrEEd. The pair record three albums and later release a greatest hits album. They then move into the “purified hip-hop” style and form Level Jumpers, which releases two albums. The instrumental of “Augment”, from Simply Complex, is later remixed and used as the beat for Dark Lotus’s “Doornail Dorothy”.

Solo work

Skrapz later works as a solo artist. His debut solo release, The 12 Step Program, becomes an overnight classic locally and nationally, and a follow-up solo LP is in progress at the point described in the biography. His most recent release is in 2005, and the planned first single from the next album is titled “Tyme”.

The name also refers to a UK MC from North West London, associated with the Ice City Boyz rap collective.
