Skizzy Mars

Skizzy Mars is an American rapper, songwriter and record producer from Harlem, New York. Born Myles Mills in 1993, he grows up in Harlem and attends St. Bernard’s School and later the Browning School. He then goes to Union College to study sports journalism, but leaves after ten weeks to focus on rapping. He is from the United States and records independently, with Independent Co. listed among his labels.

Career

While in high school, he begins writing and recording rap songs, and by his senior year he decides to pursue music seriously rather than a career in sports analysis. He releases a number of early projects, including American Psycho EP, Phases and Pace. His first major EP, The Red Balloon Project, arrives in 2015 and reaches number 35 on the Billboard 200. The release includes tracks such as “Be Lazy” and “Do You There”.

Albums and collaborations

In 2016, Skizzy Mars releases his debut studio album, Alone Together. The album features appearances from Jojo, Olivver The Kid and other collaborators, and includes songs such as “Girl On A Train” and “Comb”. In 2018, he releases are you OK, which he describes as a more honest and raw account of his life.

Background

He is raised by parents who support his music: his father works as a therapist, and his mother runs two daycare centres in Manhattan. This support helps him develop his skills while he builds a rap career.
