Skip & Die

Skip & Die is an electronic music group based in Amsterdam, formed in 2010 in the Netherlands. It begins as a collaboration between South African vocalist and visual artist Catarina Aimee Dahms, who also performs as Cata.Pirata, and Dutch producer Jori Collignon, known for work with C-mon & Kypski and Nobody Beats The Drum.

What starts as a two-person project develops into a four-piece live band. The group works with musicians in South Africa while travelling through Soweto, Johannesburg, Cape Town and Guguletu, and its music reflects those experiences through a blend of electro and afro beats. Their first album draws on imagery and themes of blazing sun, dusty roads, township shacks, cockroaches, skulls, bones and lovebirds, and uses several languages including Spanish, Portuguese, English, Afrikaans, Xhosa and Zulu.
