Sister

Sister are a Swedish sleaze rock and hard rock group from Stockholm and Jönköping, formed in early 2006. The line-up features Jamie Anderson on vocals, Tim on guitar and backing vocals, Rikki Riot on bass and backing vocals, and Cari Crow on drums and backing vocals. Their sound combines punk, glam, rock, and metal, and they are also described as having a sleaze and punk influence.

Career

After forming, Sister build a live reputation by playing widely across Sweden in 2006 and 2007, and they also tour abroad. In 2008 they tour Europe, including Germany, Austria, Switzerland, the Netherlands, Denmark, and Norway, and issue the EP Get Down N' Boogie. The following year they release the EP Deadboys Making Noise and a video for “Too Bad for You”.

The band attract the attention of Alan Averill, who is associated with Primordial and has A&R involvement with Metal Blade Records, helping bring Sister to the label’s attention and leading to a worldwide record deal. Their debut album Hated follows in 2011, and Vengeance Ignited is released in 2021.

Style and name

Sister’s style is rooted in sleaze rock, hard rock, glam rock, and punk-influenced metal. The name is shared by several other acts, including bands from the United States and England, but the Swedish group is the active outfit associated with the track “Satellite”.
