Simon Munnery

Simon Munnery is an English comedian, comedy writer and experimental stand-up performer from England, born in 1966. He performs mainly for alternative audiences, while also reaching a wider mainstream through a BBC Radio 1 show in 1997 and the BBC2 television series Attention Scum! in 2001.

Stagenames and performance persona

He is also known by the stagenames Alan Parker: Urban Warrior and The League Against Tedium. His stage act is associated with a deliberately improvised appearance, including unfashionable glasses, homemade clothes, makeshift props and dramatic facial hair. He is said to wear clothes apparently donated by comedian Jeff Green, and as The League he often wears a hat made from a kettle. One of his stand-up shows includes a character who performs with a metal bucket over his head.

Style

Munnery's comedy is satirical, political and strongly surreal. His performances also include harmonica playing, and his remarks are often quoted.
