Simon Baring

Simon Baring is a DJ and electronic music artist associated with psychedelic, progressive, techno and goa styles. He works with a broad, genre-crossing approach that includes techno, electro, tech house, minimal and psychedelic material, and he describes his sets as moving between these sounds rather than staying within one fixed style.

Career

Baring works closely with Nano Records, Glade Festival and Twisted Records between 2004 and 2008. In December 2006, after a performance in Switzerland in front of 1,000 people and Twisted label owner Simon Posford, he becomes an official Twisted DJ. He leaves Twisted in 2008 and then focuses on his own Minimal Mayhem sound, while still including some Twisted material in his sets. He also concentrates more on the techier side of his selection and continues to mix a wide range of styles in club and festival settings.

Performances and reach

Since starting out, Baring plays in the USA, Israel, Russia, Canada, Luxembourg, Ibiza, Morocco, Costa Rica, Greece, England, Wales, Scotland, Ireland, France, Switzerland, Spain, Italy, Finland and Hungary. His sets are described as well received wherever he performs, and his bookings continue to expand. He also works in the studio on his own material and plans live performances based around that work.

Associations

His Twisted connections link him to Simon Posford and to the wider Twisted catalogue, including Shpongle, Hallucinogen and Younger Brother. His work under the Minimal Mayhem name reflects his move toward a more minimal and technical direction while keeping a deep and psychedelic character.
