Silverman

Silverman is a UK rock group active since 1997. The band is centred on Martin Williams, who is listed as a member, and the group also includes Anna Dennis on vocals and acoustic guitar, Steve Moody on bass, and Alan Deacon on keyboards. The act is associated with trip-hop, experimental, ambient and electronic music, alongside its rock classification.

Recording and style

Silverman’s debut release, Speed of Life Part Two, appears in 2002 and gains critical acclaim. Their music includes duet-led and electro-noise-driven material, with songs such as “Ctrl Alt Del” and “Can I have my heart back, please?” described through references to stark, emotionally charged themes. Lyrical and thematic concerns include sex, death and lingering pain, with the treatment of sex presented as not gender-specific.

Reception and recognition

The group gains more than 500,000 internet downloads and wins Best Music Award at the world’s first Internet Film and Music Festival in Los Angeles. Silverman also show a strong interest in the internet as a means of control and self-determination.
