Silicone Soul
Silicone Soul are a Scottish house duo from Glasgow, made up of Craig Morrison and Graeme Reedie. Active since 1998, they work in dance and electronica, and are associated with deep house, house, techno and related underground electronic styles.
Career
The duo build their reputation on DJ work and production, and become known for a sound that combines deep, emotive electronic music with house and techno. They are closely linked with Soma Records, where they release their early albums and establish themselves as one of the label’s most notable acts. Their approach stays rooted in underground club music rather than commercial dance pop.
Silicone Soul also hold residencies at La Terrrazza in Barcelona, Circo Loco at DC10 in Ibiza, The Arches and The Sub Club in Glasgow, and Café d’Anvers in Antwerp. They tour internationally and are associated with club and festival culture across Europe and beyond.
Releases
Their track Right On, Right On! becomes a house classic and brings them wider recognition in 2001. They release three albums on Soma Records: A Soul Thing (2000), Staring Into Space (2005) and Save Our Souls (2006). These albums present their blend of deep house, techno and electronica.
After Save Our Souls, they focus on their Darkroom Dubs label. The label becomes a platform for house and techno releases and features artists including Sei A, Gary Beck, Jet Project, Afrilounge and Mirror Music.
Style and reputation
Silicone Soul are known for remaining aligned with underground club music and for resisting mainstream commercial pressures. Their work is described through a continuing interest in new sounds and ideas, with production that evolves while staying connected to house and techno.
