Sight Of Emptiness

Sight Of Emptiness is a Costa Rican melodic death metal group that forms in 2005. The line-up comes together around drummer Rodrigo and vocalist Eduardo fILTHY, who first discuss creating a melodic death metal band in Costa Rica after earlier plans do not come to fruition. Guitarist Roberth joins after auditioning, and the first version of the band works as a trio before the final line-up is completed by guitarist Max and bassist Diego.

Formation and early years

By the time the band becomes active in January 2005, it has developed several songs that help it test the remaining vacant positions in the line-up. Its live debut takes place on 17 April 2005, and shortly afterwards it supports Dark Tranquillity from Sweden, one of its main influences. That appearance is described as a significant date for the band and for the Costa Rican metal scene.

Line-up changes and debut album

After this early period, Max leaves to focus on another band. Freddy Chu, a friend of the group who already knows the music, then joins on guitar in August 2005. The band’s debut album, Trust is a Disease, is set for release in 2007.
