Sietta

Sietta are an Australian soul, electronica and R&B group from Darwin, Australia. The duo consists of vocalist Caiti Baker and producer and multi-instrumentalist James Mangohig.

Formation and early work

The group forms in 2009, after Mangohig has a stint as bassist in TZU’s live band. Their first official release is a remix for TZU’s Computer Love remix album. They then follow it with the Come Back Easy Play EP, a set of four songs developed in the studio with TZU’s Count Bounce.

Albums and EPs

In 2010, Sietta begin work on their debut album with Count Bounce brought in to record and assist with production. The Seventh Passenger is released via Elefant Traks, a label the group signs to earlier in the same year. Two singles come from the album: “What Am I Supposed to Do?” and “No Longer Hurt.”

In March 2012, they release The Dark Passenger, an EP of acoustically reworked versions of songs from The Seventh Passenger. In August 2013, they issue “Let it Go”, later identified as the first single from their second studio album, The Invisible River. A second single, “Agree to Disagree”, follows in December 2013, and The Invisible River is released in February 2014.

Profile and touring

Sietta are named as part of triple j’s Next Crop artists later in 2011. They also tour with Hermitude, Illy and The Herd, and make an appearance at ET15, a series of shows marking Elefant Traks’ 15-year anniversary.
