Sian Phillips

Sian Phillips is a Welsh actress and spoken-word performer born in Betws, Ammanford, Wales. She is married to Peter O’Toole and they have two daughters, Pat and Kate, before later divorcing. She also marries British actor Robin Sachs, from whom she is later divorced.

Screen and stage work

Phillips appears in many films and television programmes, and is best known for playing Livia in the BBC adaptation of Robert Graves’ I, Claudius. Her West End credits include Pal Joey, Gigi, A Little Night Music and Marlene, in which she portrays Marlene Dietrich. She also appears on the American stage in Marlene.

Honours

She receives a CBE in the Queen’s Birthday Honours list in June 2000.
