Shy and the Fight

Shy and the Fight is a seven-piece alternative folk and pop group based in and around Chester and North Wales. The band forms in 2009 and features Michael Deponeo on guitar and vocals, Christopher Done on bass and vocals, Thomas Hyndman on guitar, banjo and vocals, Carrie Anderson on violin, glockenspiel and vocals, Jackson Almond on keys, electronics and banjo, Tom Wootton on drums, and Samuel Williams on drums, percussion and cornet.

Background and live activity

Since forming, the group performs regularly across the UK and builds a live following through appearances at a range of venues, from local bars to larger events. It also appears at the first Stop Making Sense festival at the Garden festival site in Croatia.

Broadcasts and recordings

Shy and the Fight makes frequent appearances on Adam Walton’s show on BBC Radio Wales and records a live session for the programme.

Recording and wider exposure

The band’s track How to stop an imploding man is used in a Jack Wills advertising campaign for an Easter catalogue. The group is associated with websites and an online store under the names shyandthefight.co.uk, shyandthefight.com and shyandthefight.bigcartel.com, and it also maintains a Facebook page.
