Shotgun Mistress is an Australian hard rock group formed at the end of 2018. The band brings together guitarist Matt Wilcock, drummer “Diamond” David Lee, bassist Ben Curnow and vocalist Glenn Patrick. Wilcock is also known for work with The Berzerker, Akercocke and Abramelin; Curnow has also played with Earth; and Patrick is associated with Collegiens, a group that includes members of Pseudo Echo and Invertigo.

Formation and early activity

The group starts by recording “No Friend of Mine”, a hard rock track written as an anti-domestic violence song. The single reaches number 12 on the Australian Independent Charts and number 3 on the iTunes Rock Charts, receives play on community radio, and appears nationally on Redwave Media and Rebel FM. Shotgun Mistress also makes a video for the song and begins playing live on the Melbourne rock circuit, including Cherry Bar, Bombay Rock, Whole Lotta Love and the Bendigo.

Releases and label work

By the end of 2018, Shotgun Mistress records a 13-track debut album. The band later becomes the first Australian act to join Golden Robot’s metal label Crusader Records. In 2024, the group announces its second album, Kings of The Revolution, featuring the line-up of Wilcock, Lee, Curnow and Patrick.

In its first year, the band builds a steady profile through radio and press coverage, with 30 national and international radio interviews and 20 physical features, reviews and interviews. It also puts out a range of shirts alongside the single, album and video.
