Shing02

Shing02 is a hip hop artist from Tokyo, Japan, born in 1975. He is also described as a rap activist, peace advocate and inventor. He grows up in Tanzania, England and Japan before moving to the San Francisco Bay Area in 1989, after the quake, at the age of 15. In 1993 he moves to Berkeley for schooling and becomes involved in the local hip-hop scene, initially using his art skills to connect with the East Bay community.

Career

In 1996 his music reaches Japan, and he later partners with Mr. Higo of Mary Joy Recordings, gaining strong support in Japan. He is based in Oakland and works across several projects, including the collective Freelancers Utd, the futuristic jazz trio Kosmic Renaissance, and the production crew The Knocks (of CA) with Doc Max, which is listed as Terracotta Troops. He also works with various other artists and on a Japanese LP.
