Sheherazaad

Sheherazaad is an American performer-composer based in Brooklyn, New York. Their music sits within contemporary folk and folk, and it draws on a contemporary folk-pop synthesis alongside South Asian diasporic soundscapes. They are native to the San Francisco Bay Area and grow up as a second-generation member of an immigrant household.

The music also draws on both Western classical and South Asian sonic traditions. The name Sheherazaad refers to Scheherazade, the central storytelling figure from The One Thousand and One Nights, a folktale collection from the Middle East and South Asia.
