Sheena
Sheena forms around 2003, with Peter Wallner, Matt Wilson and Joe Weed all bringing prior experience from working together in a creative musical setting. The early line-up includes drummer Matt McClaine, who leaves in 2005. The remaining members continue under the Sheena name and begin writing material that moves towards electronica-influenced dance rock.
Releases and label work
In 2006, Sheena signs to Santa Cruz label Love's in Heat Records and releases its debut album, Wah-Ha era. The record is made at Indigital Studio in Santa Cruz. The band later works on a 12-inch maxi-single, Between the Planets: Log 1, which includes the track “Love Me at All”.
Line-up changes
Later in 2006, Sheena adds two more members: Nick Overhauser on drums, percussion, synth and backing vocals, and Charley Weston on saxophone and backing synth.
Live activity and collaborators
In early 2007, Sheena performs with Of Montreal at The Avalon in Hollywood, The Attic in Santa Cruz and the Great American Music Hall in San Francisco. The band also shares bills with !!!, Ariel Pink, Subtitle, Books on Tape, Giraffes? Giraffes! and Death of a Party.
