Shed is the techno project of René Pawlowitz, a German DJ and producer born in 1975 in Frankfurt (Oder), Germany. He grows up in Schwedt/Oder and begins producing music in the 1990s. He is based in Berlin from 2002.

Career

Pawlowitz founds his own label, Soloaction Records, after moving to Berlin. Under the Shed name, he releases his first EP, Red Planet Express, in 2004. His debut album, Shedding the Past, is named album of the year in 2008 by Resident Advisor.

Other names

He also works under the aliases WAX, Hoover1, Evil Fred and Head High. These project names are associated with different styles, including techno, breakbeat hardcore/jungle, UK funky and house.

Shed is identified with minimal techno. The project is also tagged with techno, dub techno, minimal and deep techno.
