Sharon Corr
Sharon Corr is a musician from Dundalk, Ireland, best known as a member of the Irish pop-rock band The Corrs. She performs on violin and also sings backing vocals. Her work is associated with Celtic fusion and pop.
Early life and musicianship
Born in 1970 in Dundalk, she begins learning the violin at the age of six. She takes up the instrument after her sister Caroline Corr does not want to learn it. Corr has also played in an orchestra and is qualified to teach the violin.
The Corrs
Corr is part of The Corrs, alongside her siblings. The group receives honorary MBEs in 2005 in recognition of its musical work and charitable activity. The charity work is linked to fundraising for Freeman Hospital in Newcastle, victims of the Omagh bombing and other causes.
Solo work
She releases her first solo album, Dream of You, in 2009. Her solo work appears on BobbyJean.
Personal life
In 2001, she marries Belfast barrister Gavin Bonnar. The couple has a son, Cathal Robert Gerard Bonnar, who is born in 2006.
