Sharleen Spiteri

Sharleen Spiteri is a Scottish singer and songwriter from Bellshill, United Kingdom, and the lead singer of Texas. She has a contralto vocal range. Texas is associated with alternative rock, indie rock and singer-songwriter material, and the band is one of Spiteri’s main musical projects.

Solo work

Spiteri releases solo material as a recording artist. Her debut solo album, Melody, is released in 2008, and her second solo album, The Movie Songbook, follows in 2010. During this period, she also appears as a judge on the Sky music talent show Must Be the Music.

With Texas

Texas returns from a hiatus in 2013 with The Conversation, which reaches No. 4 on the UK Albums Chart, No. 3 on the Scottish Albums Chart and No. 8 in France. A 25th-anniversary album, Texas 25, follows in 2015. The band’s ninth studio album, Jump on Board, is released in 2017 and reaches the top ten in Scotland, the United Kingdom, France and Belgium.

In 2013, Texas’s worldwide album sales are counted at 40 million records.
