Shappi Khorsandi is the stage name of Shaparak Khorsandi, an Iranian-born, UK-raised comedian. She is born in Tehran and moves to London with her family after her father, Hadi Khorsandi, criticises the Ayatollah in a satirical poem.

Comedy career

Khorsandi performs stand-up and is a noted performer at Joe Wilson's Comedy Madhouse in 1997. She appears on the BBC Radio 4 programmes Quote... Unquote, Loose Ends, You and Yours, Midweek, Just a Minute, The Now Show and The News Quiz.

Other work and appearances

She writes an occasional column for the online magazine Iranian.com. In 2007, she makes her first trip to Australia for the Melbourne Comedy Festival with her show Asylum Speaker, and she also appears on the Australian comedy talk show Rove that year. In December 2008, she appears on the BBC stand-up television series Live at the Apollo alongside Russell Kane and Al Murray.

Khorsandi is married to fellow comedian Christian Reilly.
