Shapeshifters

Shapeshifters are a house and dance act from Leeds. The name is also associated with other artists, but this entry refers to the British group made up of producers Simon Marlin and Max Reich, with female vocalist Cookie.

Career

The group first comes to prominence in 2004 with the single “Lola’s Theme”. After appearing on a number of high-profile DJ playlists, the track is taken up by Positiva Records and reaches number one in the UK, while also becoming a top 10 hit across Europe. The following year, they release “Back to Basics”, which also reaches the UK top 10.

Sound Advice and later releases

In March 2006, Shapeshifters release their debut album, Sound Advice. The album is accompanied by a third successful single, “Incredible”. In the United States, Marlin and Reich use the name Shape:UK because of a naming conflict with a Los Angeles hip hop group called The Shape Shifters.
