Shapeshifter

Shapeshifter are a drum and bass group from Christchurch, New Zealand, active since 1999. They are a New Zealand drum and bass act associated with electronic and liquid funk, and they are built around live performance.

Line-up

The group includes Redford Grenell, Darren Mathiassen, Dan McGruer, P Digsss, Nick Robinson, Sam Trevethick, Devin Abrams and Hooves. In the live band configuration, P Digsss handles vocals, Devin Abrams plays saxophone, keys and synthesiser, Sam Trevethick plays guitar, synthesiser and sampler, Nick Robinson plays bass, synthesiser and MPC, and Johnny Hooves plays drums.

Sound

Their music combines drum and bass with dub, jazz, hip-hop, metal, funk and electronic elements. This blend is used to shape their live drum and bass performances.
