Shane is the trance and progressive house alias of Dutch producer Ron van den Beuken, from the Netherlands. Under this name he works as a DJ and producer in electronic dance music.
Career
Shane begins DJing at the age of 16 and starts out playing vinyl. He later moves through CDJ use into a more digital setup, using a MacBook Pro, Native Instruments Traktor, and a custom interface for the Jazzmutant Lemur multitouch controller. His career develops from early local work in Germany into international club and radio appearances.
He first finds a base at the event and booking agency Hertzmusic in Kaiserslautern, where he appears as resident DJ at the Cameo Club, on the Hertzclub party series, and on stations including Sunshine Live and Big City Beats on BigFM. From 2000 onwards he plays in Ibiza, and in 2005 he becomes guest resident DJ at Viproom Shanghai in China, which leads to touring in Asia and the United States.
Production work
Shane starts producing in the late 1990s from a small studio and releases his early tracks on local German labels. His output later grows to worldwide releases, remixes, and collaborations with artists including DJ Taucher, Oliver Morgenroth, Michael & Levan, Emblis, and Tropical Highlight.
He also contributes to compilations such as the Jetlag Digital Miami WMC Sampler and Sunshine Live Mixmission 2010.
Jetlag Digital and album
In 2008 he founds Jetlag Digital, a label presented as one of the first international progressive house labels from Germany. In 2010 he releases his first album, Departure, on the label. The album is built around 10 club tracks and a continuous DJ mix, drawing on progressive influences from different parts of the world. It includes remixes made for Tropical Highlight, Felix Stone, and Harley Augustine, as well as a collaboration with Oliver Morgenroth.
His work receives support from Markus Schulz, Armin van Buuren, Jerome Isma-AE, Pole Folder, and Taucher.
Broadcasts and style
Shane’s tracks and sets appear on international radio stations, and he hosts the show Continental Fusion on DI.FM New York. His approach is tied to progressive music and to a preference for development and technical change in DJ performance.
