Sex Pistols Experience

Sex Pistols Experience are a United Kingdom-based tribute band dedicated to the Sex Pistols. The group’s line-up includes Dave Donley.

Live work and recognition

The band plays widely in the UK, across Europe and in the United States, and has performed more than one thousand shows. It tours regularly on the European festival and touring circuit and has completed three extensive US tours, playing cities including New York, Los Angeles, El Paso and Seattle.

The group also appears in film and television reconstructions about punk and the Sex Pistols, with BBC, Sky TV, Channel 4 and Fox TV among the broadcasters that hire them for these projects. The Sex Pistols Experience has also performed with or alongside people connected to the original band and its circle, including guitarist Steve Jones in Los Angeles, bassist Glen Matlock in Liverpool, Steve Dior at London’s 100 Club, and Ed Tenpole Tudor.

Repertoire and performance style

Their set draws on the Sex Pistols’ material, especially songs from Never Mind the Bollocks, including Pretty Vacant, God Save The Queen, Anarchy in the U.K., Holidays in the Sun and Sid Vicious’s version of My Way. The band also includes B-sides and rarities, and presents the material with close attention to the original look and sound of the group.

Audience and reputation

Sex Pistols Experience plays to long-time Sex Pistols fans as well as younger audiences discovering the band. It has gained recognition in Las Vegas, where its second appearance is named as “Pick of the Week”, and it performs as a UK tribute act with a reputation for reproducing the energy associated with the 1977 Sex Pistols period.
